Giving back in Alaska
Giving back to the community gives me a feeling of connectedness, and the satisfaction of trying to make the world a better place. I am an active member of the Running Club North Organization. The organization promotes healthy living while encouraging people to incorporate exercise in their daily routine. The dynamic club puts on seven races a year, publishes a newsletter, and is the community focus for all matters walking and running. Put the health in healthy living – do something good for yourself!
Giving back in Denver, CO
I am proud to say that not a day goes by without Payless Denver giving back. We frequently host clothing drives for the homeless, and an ongoing food drive. We require employees to actively participate in these initiatives, but find that it is something they want to participate in. It’s a great time to get to know your employees and what spurs their interest to volunteer. We also are proud to work with the Kids Wish Network is a nationally recognized non-profit organization dedicated to infusing hope, creating happy memories, and improving the quality of life for children.
Giving Back in Ft. Lauderdale, FL
We in Ft. Lauderdale do our part in giving back to the community by participating in various golf benefit fundraisers. We find that golf fundraisers not only help various charities and causes, but also provide exercise and are quite fun. I personally golfed my best game in years at the Larry Little Legends Gold Classic benefiting Historic Virginia Key Beach. The Larry Little Legends Gold Classic raises money to help restore Virginia Key Beach to its former glory days. This was the 1st time the event has ever been hosted, but due to a massive turnout (not to mention my great game); this event will be held for many years to come.
Giving Back in Las Vegas, NV
The Kids Wish Network is our favorite charity – Payless Las Vegas employees donate time and money to help all children. The organization fulfills the wishes of children ages 3 to 18 with life-threatening medical conditions. We also donate all lost and found items, not claimed after 90 days, to local homeless and abuse shelters, knowing that the simplest items can often be a great help to those in need.
Giving Back in Kansas City Metro Area, MO
Knowing that there are always those who need help getting through these days, our employees often volunteer at the City Union Mission Soup Kitchen, an organization that prevents homelessness through community assistance, such as helping community clients with bills, school supplies, clothing, food, and holiday projects. We are also very involved in cancer awareness and often participate in cancer awareness and money raising walks. One of our members contributes time to the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services (SRS) in Kansas City.

Giving Back in Minneapolis, MN
As successful members of the community, we have a responsibility to help those that are less fortunate and contribute to the common good. Payless Minneapolis donates lost and found items to local organizations such as the Lion’s Club, a network that works together to answer the needs of challenged communities around the world. When called upon, we donate cars for a length of time to the Boys and Girls Club, which offers programs and services to promote and enhance the development of boys and girls by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence.
Giving Back in Phoenix, AZ
We like to remember our furry friends in need here in Phoenix as we donate to the humane society. Animals are an important part of our lives at Payless Phoenix, so we take time to give back to animals in need. Helping battered women build their lives is another way we try to make our city better. We have found that contributing to the local churches that support various local charities is another way we can help. Here in Phoenix, we can never pass up on an opportunity to give back to our local community.
Giving Back in San Diego, CA
The Payless staff in San Diego has identified the Salvation Army as the charity we most like to support. We donate to its drive twice a year. The fact is donating or giving away products or services is a very effective method of building our company’s morale and loyalty.

Association. This has been developed to help people who are buying property in
Greece and who are not Greek residents. Our staff wants to see foreigners get the
correct information before buying property. I have managed and donated to the First
Hellenic Home Owners Association. It is very important to me, to help foreigners get
the right information before buying housing/property. Payless Greece will be the main
sponsor for this Association.
Payless Gives Back in Guatemala City, Guatemala
Our efforts to give back involve the donating of toys and clothes in our community. It warms our hearts to know that the donated toys can be appreciated by those who have experienced misfortune. Payless Guatemala employees donate toys and clothes at least once a month, because it is gratifying to know that we can spread joy to among the entire community. As a wise man once said, it truly is much better to give than receive.
Payless Gives Back in Guam
We, in Guam are proud to participate in several organizational efforts that benefit our community. We provide vans for the Guam Make a Wish Foundation, a non-profit organization that helps clinically ill children. Every year, it is an honor to donate our vehicles to the Guam Diabetes Association for their annual symposium and 5k runs. There are many benefits to donating cars, it’s hassle-free, much easier than fixing, advertising, and selling your car, plus you save the cost of maintaining a car you don't use. Another way we give back is by organizing various fund raisers for Guam’s Chapter of the American Cancer Society.
Giving Back in Montego Bay, Jamaica
Our efforts to give back to our community include donating clothes to the Rosemount Missionary Church in Montego Bay Saint James. We are always looking to learn new skills that can be used in the workplace or to enhance our well-being. While some of us volunteer to gain experience, others volunteer to protect our environment.
Giving Back in Monterrey, Saltillo, Chihuahua, Culiacan, San Luis Potosi, and Ciudad Juarez, Mexico
We believe that recycling is one of the best ways for us to have a positive impact on the world in which we live. Recycling is important to both the natural environment and us, which is why we routinely recycle trash, donating clothes, and food to local charities. Every year we research nonprofit organizations to see what Payless Mexico can do to assistance.
Giving Back in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic
We at Payless realize that we have many opportunities to help our community especially when experiencing difficult times. Our country has fallen victim to a number of natural disasters, such as flooding. Payless Santo Domingo has established a foundation called “All God’s Children” and is in the process of registering the foundation with the Government. This will enable the foundation to receive tax-free contributions. We have adopted a small ex-sugar cane village, taking food and clothes to the village on Saturdays. During the holidays many small toys are delivered to the children of the village. Perhaps our most important contribution was having a doctor accompany us to the village to perform exams and administer some medications. We feel that we are really making a difference in our community.
Giving Back in San Jose Del Cabo, Mexico
It is our civil duty to give back to the local community. Every month we participate in cleaning up the highways. I am proud to say that all employees volunteer because of their strong passion for the cause. Keeping the environment in the best condition possible is a priority, as we want to see our communities thrive for centuries to come. The Red Cross is another great organization that we habitually donate to. We are committed to meeting the humanitarian needs of the people in our area.

Payless Costa Rica works closely with the Costa Rica National Tourism Chamber to help spread awareness on protecting the children of Costa Rica. We believe that children are our future, and we have a duty to protect them. Every year, we put banners on cars at the Payless Costa Rica locations to get the word out. The tourism chamber offers programs where we can donate computer equipment, and baby seats to local schools.
Giving Back in St. Maarten, Netherland Antilles
It brings us great pleasure to offer discounted car rental rates when overseas doctors visit the island to assist the Mental Health Foundation. We were involved in a bike-a-thon to raise funds for the St. Dominic Primary School, where a Payless truck was used to pick up cyclists who could not complete the ride. We also receive requests from local churches, schools, and the Carnival Committee on the island. We show our appreciation by extending transportation or a vehicle to support the event.
Giving Back in Montreal and Toronto, Canada
In Canada, we believe that the Salvation Army is a worthwhile organization, and we have created a program to make regular donations. We keep a donation box in the rental office, and encourage all staff to periodically go through their closets and donate items that they do not use any more or are planning on throwing out. We also allow customers the opportunity to drop items they don’t need anymore into the donation box. Every two to three months, after the box is full, we deliver the donated items to the Salvation Army. We feel that initiating the Salvation Army donation project has been a worthwhile cause. Winters in Canada are very cold, and donated coats and other cold weather accessories have helped many people who would otherwise not have been able to afford them. Our staff feels a sense of pride in giving back to the community and helping others.
