Spring Break is generally when the thaw allows the tourist season to start in Anchorage when camping, fishing, hiking and boat trips begin in earnest. Anchorage has some great attractions to suit all interests. The Alaska Zoo is a day out with a difference for families. It features animals from colder climes such as moose, artic foxes, harbor seals, polar bears, reindeer, Tibetan yaks and plenty of birds. 

The Alaska Heritage Aviation Museum on Aircraft Drive has a host of exhibits in its many galleries and hangars which accommodate the vintage aircraft and DC-6 on display. It is located on Lake Hood and entrance fees are very family-friendly too. 

A great way to get out and about in Anchorage is on an ATV tour in the scenic backcountry. Drive your own Honda four wheeler on the guided tour and cover miles of incredible scenery and see some breathtaking natural sights. 

Visitors must make time for a marine tour into Prince William Sound or the Kenai Fjords to see otters, puffins, whales and glaciers at close quarters.
